Actress Naomi Watts was born in Britain, but lost her father Peter Watts, a former sound engineer for pioneering British band, Pink Floyd when she was seven. She grew up in Australia where she began acting in her teens. Her film debut was in the Australian movie For Love Alone in 1986. She recently converted to Buddhism, but said she was not yet a strict Buddhist. In May 2006, Watts was named a special representative to the United Nations program for HIV/AIDS.
