Known by her nickname Lili, Alizee, the brown-haired, brown-eyed beauty was born in the Corsican capital Ajaccio on 21 August 1984. By the tender age of four, she excelled at jazz, tap and classical dance, and got drawn to show business. She also expressed her artistic worth at the easel and in 1995 she won a colouring competition organised by Air France. Little Alizee's design won first prize and ended up reproduced on the cabin of an aircraft, which got its name after her, and Alizee won a trip to the Maldives. Her life took a dramatic turn in 1999 when Alizee passed the auditions to appear on the TV talent show "Graines de Star" (broadcast on M6).
Alizee had originally wanted to sign up for the programme's dance contest. However, as the dance category was reserved for groups, the budding young artiste entered herself for the singing category instead, and she went on to win the hearts of millions of viewers, scooping the "Meilleure Graine" award for most promising young singing star of tomorrow.
