Eligibility

Students enrolled in undergraduate interior design programs that have at least one faculty/adjunct instructor that is a member of IDEC.

Goals

• To encourage and reward design excellence.
• To encourage students to identify and use a variety of research methods.
• To encourage students’ understanding that ongoing research is vital to the of good design
• To increase students’ understanding of community service and pro bono work.
• To advance the concept that good design includes protecting the public through creative problem solving and successfully addressing health, safety and welfare issues.

Awards

The competition is sponsored by NCIDQ and final awards will be determined by the sponsors before the beginning of the 2011/2012 academic year.

Jury Process

Entries will be juried first at the school level, then at the IDEC Regional level and finally at the IDEC Interna onal level. At the school and at the Regional level, the top three submissions are advanced. Please see the Student Co on Schedule for more on.

Phases of the Competition

PHASE 1: Research

Student Competition Information for Phase I should be distributed at the beginning of a 7-day work period.

PHASE 2: Programming and

PHASE 3: Design

Student infor for Phase 2 and Phase 3 should be distributed at the beginning of a second 7-day work period. Students may work outside of class as well. Provide general guidance as needed and promptly collect the submissions. Faculty must go to the IDEC website to download the AutoCAD files to be used and distribute to the student teams at the beginning of Phase 2.

Submission

Entry Prese will be submitted on CD-ROM in a single file Adobe PDF (.pdf) format for the slides as well as higher on images of each board (.jpg format, 20”x30” 300 dpi). The disc will be labeled with the students’ names, school and contact infor Please reference all deadlines listed in the schedule on of this document. Include a hard copy of the Entry Form signed by the students and faculty sponsor. Late submissions will not be reviewed.
