Whether you know Alison Lohman because you're in love with bad science fiction films from the late 90s or because you've become obsessed with her recent rise to star status and Paparazzi material doesn't matter. What matters is that Alison Lohman has quickly changed her role in Hollywood from fiction film flat to big screen beauty and no one can stop her from rising to the top.

Although Alison Lohman grew up acting mostly for the stage and came from a family with no showbiz connections, it is clear that she has taken her newfound fame in stride and clearly intends to go all the way to the top of Hollywood with he piercing young eyes, milky skin, and soft flowing blonde locks.

In 1997, Alison moved to Los Angeles and began acting in science fiction b-films, like Kraa! The Sea Monster and Planet Patrol and also appeared in dozens of televisions shows and children's movies like The Million Dollar Kid and White Boy, although she did also appear in the not so bad film, Delivering Milo.

Alison's first attempts at big screen a-film success were thwarted with such bloopers as Where the Truth Lies, which not only bombed big at the box office but was also rated NC-17 (still a big no-no in most of our society) and gained not critical acclaim, but critical disgust for Alison's performance (and perhaps a permanent home for her name at Rotten Tomatoes-not an achievement any actress wishes to have on her resume).

Soon after, Alison appeared alongside Robin Williams and Holly Hunter in Big White, but the movie wouldn't be on anyone's favorite's of the box office lists because it never made it to the big screen-despite all of Alison's hard work on the film and the stunning lineup of star (which also included Tim Nelson), the film went direct-to-video and the one copy in every Blockbuster across America (if every Blockbuster ordered it) is probably still brand new.

Fortunately for Alison, nearly every career in the acting industry can be rescued if you try hard enough and in 2006, Alison landed the older version role of Dakota Fanning's character in "Flicka," a film about a girl that befriends a horse. The film did make it to the movie theaters and actually ranked in the top five on its opening weekend in major cities around the nation.

Although Alicia used to play the piano for the rich and famous at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel, she's since gone on to become one of the rich and famous who sit and listen to the players at the hotel, and she seems to have taken her quick rise to the top in stride, never allowing herself to forget that she once sat on that same leather bench.

Born Alicia Roanne Witt on 21 August 1975, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Alicia Witt attributes her determination to her home-schooled, home-trained lifestyle, which led her to graduate high school at the tender age of 14. However, Alicia's young age did not stop her from near-instant fame.

In 1984, "Alicia Witt" made her film debut in Dune, and by age fourteen, Alicia was cast in a television role written specifically for her on the Emmy-award winning series, Twin Peaks (1990). By 1993, the 17-year-old actress was playing hardball, showing up in such features as Hotel Room (1993), Fun (1994-debuted at Sundance Film Festival and won Alicia the Special Jury Recognition Award), Mr. Holland's Opus (1995), Four Rooms (1995)-which was directed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez and Urban Legend (1998).

Aside from being loved on the big screen, Alicia also has frequent offers to appear on the silver screen and has guest starred on shows like The Sopranos (1999), Ally McBeal (1997), and a guest star role turned home for four years as the daughter of Cybill Shepherd on CBS' critically acclaimed "Cybill."

Alicia took a break from mainstream American films and television to star in several independent films after 1999 and made her debut back into Hollywood with 2002's Two Weeks Notice, opposite Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant-an interesting choice, she was offered the lead as Mary Jane Watson in "Spiderman"-who turns down Spiderman? Most recently she played alongside Kevin Costner in 2003's The Upside of Anger. In June 2004, Alicia Witt took a break from the acting world and modeled the world's most expensive hat on the runway-Louis Mariette's $2.7 million Champrau d'Amour.
